A time of solitude

I hope you will join us this Sunday for what I hope will be a meaningful time of solitude and listening to God. When this class was begun, we discussed the desire for the class not to be defined as a destination on Sunday or by the four walls of the Church. So, Sunday will mark our first venture into meeting outside the Church walls.

We will be meeting in the back parking lot of the Church at 10:00am and will drive together to Hill Park. When we arrive, we will talk very briefly about solitude, and then each participant will be free to find a comfortable place in the park to spend time with God. Each participant will have two options during the time of solitude. The participant can spend the time as he or she wishes: praying, reading the Bible, listening, whatever one chooses. In addition, the participant can follow along with the guide that will be provided. After thirty minutes of solitude, the group will come back together for a few minutes so that anyone who would like can share thoughts and feelings of the experience.

We should arrive back at the Church at no later than 11:15am. If you would like to attend the Worship Service this Sunday, I would encourage you to go to the 8:45am service, as we will be arriving back after the 11:00am service starts. I would also encourage everyone to bring your Bible, something to write your thoughts down on, and whatever else makes you comfortable during this time.
